These are the second largest macaws that can be kept as pet birds. In the wild they are found in Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Guyana, Brazil, Peru, Suriname, French Guiana, Paraguay, Argentina, and Bolivia.

Care: These are large birds and a large stainless steel cage is best suited for their needs. A cage size of 48″ wide, 36″ deep, and 60″ tall – enough to easily open and flap their wings inside is recommended, and cages should have a minimum of 1″ to 1.5″  of bar spacing.
