Buy Yorkshire Canary Online. The Yorkshire Canary,(Serinus canaria domesticus), is a favorite of canary fanciers throughout the world and exhibits a good nature. It may be considered the most popular of all “type” canary birds. This tall, tapering bird with broad shoulders and a large chest, has a wonderful posture and a graceful shape, earning it the nickname of “Guardsman.”  It also has a narrow waist and a rigid, erect stance. This favorite pet canary bird can live between 8-12 years with good care. Enjoy easy and safe shipping right to your local post office from The Finch Farm. This bird became expensive and fashionable to breed in courts of Spanish and English kings. Monks started breeding them and only sold the males which sing. This kept the birds in short supply and drove the price up. Eventually, Italians obtained hens and were able to breed the birds themselves. This made them very popular and resulted in many breeds arising and the birds being bred all over Europe.

Buy Yorkshire Canary Online. The Yorkshire Canary,(Serinus canaria domesticus), is a favorite of canary fanciers throughout the world and exhibits a good nature. This kept the birds in short supply and drove the price up. Eventually, Italians obtained hens and were able to breed the birds themselves. This made them very popular and resulted in many breeds arising and the birds being bred all over Europe.

The Yorkshire Canary comes in many color variations and our posted image above is just an example of one color possibility. We cannot guarantee the exact coloring of your ordered Yorkshire canary, but they are all beautiful!

Geography: The canaries were first bred in captivity in the 17th century. They were brought over by Spanish sailors to Europe. The Yorkshire was developed from crossbreeding the common canary with the Lancashire, Norwich, and Belgian canaries to add such qualities as length, improved color and feather quality, vigor, and stance.

Size: 6.5-7.5 inches in length

Temperament: They are good-natured social creatures that do well when kept in cages or in aviaries. They are timid birds though and should not be housed with parakeets, lovebirds, or other hookbills that tend to be more aggressive birds by nature. It is a larger bird and enjoys a larger cage than other canaries. A suggested cage size at least 24” wide by 18” deep by 24” high is recommended. Also, avoid placing two males in a single cage as they are independent, and they will fight each other for sole ownership of the territory. Buy Yorkshire Canary Online

Breeding: The Yorkshire Canary is relatively easy to breed and will readily rear its young. They are best bred in breeding cages. They lay their eggs in a nest. The female will lay 3 to 6 eggs, one per day. It is best to allow a hen to have only two clutches.

Diet: Canary seed, Dried Egg Food, Mineral Grit, Millet, Cuttlefish Bone, and Australian Blend Goldenfeast.

DNA Testing – * DNA testing is not available for this canary.

Buy Scotch Fancy Canary Online

$254.99
Buy Scotch Fancy Canary Online.  The Scotch Fancy Canary, (Serinus canaria domesticus), is also known as the Scottish Canary, Glasgow Hen, Glasgow Don, Scot Fancy, Glasgow Fancy Canary, and Bird O'Circle. The Scotch or Scot Fancy Canary is an older posture breed that went to the brink of extinction sometime around the early 1900s, although it is being preserved by some dedicated breeders today. Considering the rarity of the variety, having a pet scotch fancy bird might be better suited to an experienced and more serious breeder. This canary was first developed from imported Belgian Canary stock during the early 1800s. By the 1830s, a distinctly new variety had evolved by selection in Glasgow. The Scottish Canary is one of the 'birds of position' in contrast to the purely 'type' canaries, such as the Border Canary or the Yorkshire. The ideal was that from the tip of the beak to the tip of the tail, the form should be like the rim of a circle. The more the bird conformed to a perfect circle, the greater were the points awarded. Learning about canaries is fun, and an informative handbook to read is our Canary Handbook.

Buy Lizard Canary Online

$243.99
Buy Lizard Canary Online. The Lizard canary (Serinus canaria domesticus), is named and specially bred for its beautiful markings - the black crescent-shaped spots running down its back and breast and resembling the scales of a lizard. This visual effect is known as "spangling". The Lizard Canary finch gradually loses this lizard-like pattern with each annual molt. Foundation colors can range from gold, yellow, white, natural buff, and orange or red tones for these lizard canary birds for sale. Though never extremely popular in Europe they were in no danger of disappearing, until the 1900s. Severely threatened with the advent of two world wars along with disease epidemics, their numbers were reduced to about only 40 birds. In 1945 the Lizard Canary Association of Great Britain was formed with the intent of re-establishing these birds, serious breeders selling birds only to other serious breeders. Today the Lizard Canary thrives and is one of the most popular types of canaries available. Their coloring ranges from white to yellow to orange. Buy Lizard Canary Online

Buy White Crested Canary Online

$260.99
Buy White Crested Canary Online. The Crested Canary, (Serinus canaria domesticus), is one of the oldest "type" canaries bred for its striking tufted crest of head feathers, rather than a special song. If you enjoy breeding canaries, this white-crested canary might be an ideal pet canary selection. Shipping is easy, safe, and delivers right to your local post office. Today, the crested canary comes in a multitude of colors and is readily available and appreciated for both its fun looks and great personality. The crested canary can be on the timid side, but does well in either cages or aviaries, and can live between 8-12 years with relative ease. True Crested Canaries tend to be quite large on average, compared to their close relative, the Gloster Canary. Breeders continued to work, using the true Crested Canary as a starter for the ultimate development of the smaller but wildly popular Gloster Canary, which also has a well-shaped crest. The true show quality Crested Canary is a larger, somewhat stocky canary. Many pet quality Crested Canaries may be smaller. Their environment should not be wet, cool, or drafty, and if they are given space to sunbathe, they should also have a shaded area to protect them from too much sun.

Buy Red Factor Canary Online

$269.99
Buy Red Factor Canary Online. The Domestic Canary, is a domesticated form of the wild canary, a small songbird in the finch family originating from the Macronesia Islands. The canaries were first bred in captivity in the 17th century. They were brought over by Spanish sailors to Europe. This bird became expensive and fashionable to breed in courts of Spanish and English kings. The red-factor canary is an example of a color-bred canary or a canary that is bred and prized for its color, rather than its song, although their song is beautiful as well! "Red Factor" refers to the gene that allows for red coloring which ranges from pale orange to bright red to bronze-red in color. The Red Factor Canary was developed by Dr. Hans Duncker (a German Breeder) in the early 1900s by crossing a male red siskin with a yellow canary. Some say the yellow canary was a German Roller, while others believe that its ancestor is a Border Canary.  Red Factor Canaries for sale are sure to add vibrant color to your aviary.
